The TOD10N is Tim’s most recent signature instrument and represents a significant divergence from his first guitar, which was based on AZ.
Ibanez has made the formal announcement of their newest partnership with contemporary guitar phenom Tim Henson, which is scheduled for release in 2023. The TOD10N is Tim’s most recent signature instrument and represents a significant divergence from his first guitar, which was based in Arizona. When it was shown on Tim’s social media channels and in Polyphia’s music video for their song “Playing God,” this specialised acoustic/electric guitar at once garnered a lot of curiosity and attention from people.
Tim drew inspiration for the design of this guitar from an older model of an Ibanez guitar called the SC500N. This older model was distinctive in that it was an electric guitar with a solid body, but it had nylon strings and a piezo pickup system instead of steel ones. Although it is clear that the TOD10N was designed with that model in mind, it features a significantly different set of parameters and may be regarded as its very own original work.
The structure of the body is similar to that of the FR series, except it is hollow rather than solid. Additionally, the design incorporates a discreet sound hole that may be found on the upper bout of the instrument and faces the player. This not only provides an acoustic tone that is distinct and authentic, but it also maintains the sleek and contemporary aesthetic of the guitar. The TOD10N also includes an important component known as fan bracing.
It is a bracing method that is normally seen on classical guitars, and it was included in order to help facilitate and enhance the “Nuevo Flamenco” style that Tim and Polyphia have been experimenting with as of late. Other significant features include a solid top made of Sitka Spruce, a fretboard made of Walnut, a pickup made by Fishman® called the Sonicore, and an inlay called “Tree of Death” that was developed by Tim. The TOD10N is scheduled to become available for purchase sometime during the first quarter of 2023.
