An attempt to rob an internet café with a gun resulted in injury to a security guard, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, which said that deputies made an arrest in the case on Friday. Around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies arrived at Hot Spot in Dona Vista. According to an arrest document, they discovered that two guys had recently entered the establishment and were accosted by the guard, who was shot by one of the suspects after a physical fight between them.
According to the affidavit, deputies investigated “another internet café robbery with (two) black male suspects” and obtained a cell phone data extraction that revealed cards were to Travontae Harley, 33, of Mount Dora. The sheriff’s office was examining News 6’s request for clarification regarding whether or not Harley is suspected in more than one robbery at the time of this report.
Harley was arrested on Friday night at around 9:35 p.m. after a traffic stop by the sheriff’s office’s street crimes division. A Wawa receipt discovered during a search of the vehicle was dated about three hours prior to the robbery attempt at Hot Spot, which deputies said was seen on the store’s CCTV cameras by Harley and an unidentified male.
According to the affidavit, the arresting police suggested charges of attempted murder while committing a robbery and robbery with a pistol. According to arrest documents, Harley now faces those allegations, and a hearing has been scheduled on September 12th.
Charges of giving false information to a law enforcement official and possessing a controlled narcotic will also be heard in court in September (amphetamine). According to documents, Harley was incarcerated on a $78,000 bond on Saturday.
