Ledford Middle School’s classes were suspended for the day after a body was discovered there early on Wednesday. The cause of the death remained under investigation. Although the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office withheld information concerning the end, there was no sign that it was a homicide.
Deputies were called to the school shortly before 6 a.m. after learning that someone had been discovered unconscious on the premises. According to deputies, the victim died from undetermined circumstances. The sheriff’s office said, “This is an isolated and random act, and there is no threat to the public due to this case.” The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said that no suspects are being sought.

The sheriff’s office withheld the name, gender, and age of the individual. There doesn’t seem to be a relationship between the individual and Ledford Middle School at this time, according to a statement from Davidson County Schools. The Davidson County Schools reported that a worker found the body. Ledford Middle School was shuttered to allow for an investigation by law authorities.
The school system stated, “Unfortunately, many of the buses were already on the road when the decision to cancel school was made. Parents were informed to pick up their children at Ledford High School, and buses were routed there. Staff members were allowed back at school once deputies had finished their investigation on the campus. According to the school system, “the entire campus was surveyed to guarantee a safe return for children and staff.”
