Redwood City Shooting Today: On Tuesday afternoon in Redwood City, the gunfire stopped the flow of traffic and forced individuals to flee for their lives. After a murder during a Chris Stapleton performance, five “Hells Angels” members were detained.
According to the police, a woman and three children were riding in a car with an armed man.
They have no known connection to one another. Police say the man got out of the car before they decided he posed a threat and started shooting. After being transferred to a nearby hospital, the man was pronounced dead.
The individual was revealed to be a 36-year-old Redwood City resident who had previously been known to the authorities. The youngsters in the car were 1, 4, and 10 years old, according to the police. According to authorities, the 10-year-old rushed to a nearby store as the mom and the two younger kids fled the area. Since then, the kids have been reunited. Uncertainty surrounds when and how the mother of the children was hurt during the encounter, according to the police. According to authorities, she is at the hospital and making a full recovery. Cross-traffic is seen in the video coming to a stop before shots are fired.
In order to avoid being hit by gunfire, six officers are seen walking up to the vehicle in front of the crossroads while squatting low. Then, as more bullets rang out, officers pulled a man out of that automobile while other drivers and passengers got out of their cars and fled for cover.
Then another police car approaches the camera’s field of view. There are more gunshots heard. More passengers get out of their vehicles and can be seen escaping. Redwood City police stated the incident started when its 9-1-1 dispatch center received a call in a press release distributed hours later. No one engaged in conversation with the dispatcher; nevertheless, a child’s screams in the background caused the call to be dropped.
Officers were sent to investigate after a cell tower revealed that the call was originating from the 1500 block of El Camino Real. When they arrived, they discovered that a man, a woman, and three kids were involved in a domestic violence incident. The individual, according to the RCPD, tried to use the kids as human shields while arming himself.
“Officers started trying to reason with the adult male, but before a connection could be made, officers thought the adult male was trying to shoot the adult female and/or the kids,” the report said. The guy was rendered unconscious after officers used lethal force to respond swiftly, according to the RCPD.
After being transported to a hospital, the individual was ultimately declared deceased. The children were unharmed, according to the police, and the involved female was hospitalized with injuries unrelated to the incident.
As is normal in these circumstances, all of the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave. The event will be looked into by the district attorney’s office for San Mateo County.
