Wednesday Netflix Ending Explained: This season of Netflix’s Wednesday had a lot of mysteries and twists, so you can be forgiven if you can’t keep up with everything. Instead of saying “lions and tigers and bears, oh my!” like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, this weird and creepy teen (played by Jenna Ortega) immediately got in trouble at Nevermore Academy. After that, she kept getting into life-threatening situations.
But Wednesday made mistakes more than once, and it turns out that this creepy character was right about human and supernatural monsters. In a way, it was her fate to do it. So who was the monster lurking in the school’s woods, and why did some unknown force seem to be after her? Here’s how the last episode of the first season went.
Wednesday’s Netflix Ending Explained
A fateful event changed their lives when Gomez and Morticia were in Nevermore 32 years ago. A boy named Garrett Gates was crazy about Morticia, and when he found out that she was dating Gomez, it drove him crazy. He saw them having a private moment together, and he lost his temper and became filled with a desire to kill. Morticia had stabbed him with a sword, and Gomez had taken the blame for saving his wife. But when Wednesday dug up the body 32 years later, he found that the autopsy report didn’t list stabbing as the cause of death. This was because Garrett had been poisoned before Morticia stabbed him, so he was already dying. Wednesday had another vision, and she saw that Garrett’s father, Ansel Gates, had given him the poison to kill all the outcasts and prove his worth. The poison bottle from the nightshade had broken into his pocket and killed him.
Laurel returned to Nevermore Academy as a teacher to make his father’s dream of killing everyone come true. Joseph Crackstone came from the same family line as the Gates. When Goody killed Joseph Crackstone, the ordinary people who worked for him were about to kill the outcasts. To make sure that Crackstone was never resurrected in the future by dark magic, she cursed his soul too. Goody put Crackstone in a coffin with a blood lock that a direct descendant could only open. Laurel Gates, a.k.a. Marilyn Thornhill, had stolen Goody’s book of shadows and, through that, had come to know of a ritual through which Crackstone could be resurrected.
So, she asked Hyde to bring the victim’s body parts because she needed them to finish the ritual. Joseph Crackstone was brought back to life. Wednesday tried to stop him, but the angry spirit was too strong for her. Joseph Crackstone stabbed Wednesday, then went to Nevermore to kill all the other outcasts. Wednesday thought her story was over, but Goody Addams came to her aid. She said on Wednesday that the necklace she wore was a powerful talisman that could be used to conjure sports. Goody used it to heal Wednesday, but it meant that Wednesday would never again be able to see her ancestor.
Wednesday learned the power of relationships that day. If her loyal friends hadn’t stood by her side in the face of so much trouble, she wouldn’t have been able to kill Joseph Crackstone and Laurel Gates, his loyal servant. Enid became a werewolf for the first time in her life and severely hurt Tyler, also known as The Hyde Monster. Joseph Crackstone was stabbed from behind by Bianca. This gave Wednesday a chance to beat and stab him in the heart, as Goody had told her to do. Eugene stuck to the hive code and came to help his only friend with his bees. Bees attacked Laurel, and Wednesday probably killed her. By doing this, she got back at the people who hurt the outcasts and killed them, especially Principal Weems, who always looked out for Wednesday.

Who Was Wednesday Monsters?
Wednesday found the killer on the run was a Hyde with the aid of a brief visit from her adored Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), an unstable outcast form that appears well-meaning and kind-natured but has a nasty side that morphs on command once unlocked.
After some investigation, she discovers that Hyde is Xavier (Percy Hynes White), and with the help of “proof,” she manages to have him detained for the murder of six “normies” in the woods near the school. She was ultimately off the mark, and she and Sheriff Galpin (Jamie McShane) ought to have focused more on their neighbourhoods.
Tyler (Hunter Doohan), the Sheriff’s son, was her search’s, right-hand man. Uncomfortably, the teen learns this after kissing him, and her telepathic abilities show the reality in a vision. Thing assists Wednesday in obtaining police records that show Tyler’s mother attended Nevermore Academy together with Wednesday’s mother, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and Principal Weems (Gwendoline Christie).

Wednesday What’s Next?
Tyler the Hyde is still living, for one thing. In one of the last shots of the finale, he is moved into a very safe vehicle, but when he wakes up, he changes into the monster. Also, Crackstone’s heirloom ring is still somewhere in that Nevermore pentagon quad, where it fell after he died and his body broke up.
Enid turning into a wolf to fight Hyde as it takes one last shot at Wednesday in the woods is another essential part of the ending. Also, kudos to that heartwarming hug between a bloody Enid and her werewolf roommate, Wednesday, who is known to hate the colour and physical touch.
Who knows if Bianca will return to Nevermore since she said she was leaving to help her mother with Morning Song and their community, but she hinted on Wednesday that they would win the fencing title together next year.
Wednesday will most likely go back to her haunted new home, though. She says the ending of her show as she types “THE END?” on her beautifully morbid typewriter. Oh, but a new stalker is sending her texts on her new phone. Xavier gets her and tells her they are keeping an eye on her.
